MEETUP PLAN: meeting new people, write postcards, visit Cottbus, have a fun birthday together!

ENGLISH VERSION:
I will be staying in Cottbus from 5th to 8th May to join the big Spreewald meet-up on 6th May.
I have never been to Cottbus before, so I look forward to visiting it. Moreover, I will turn forty on Sunday, 7th May!
So, I would love to celebrate with a few local, or international, postcrossers.

Meeting programme
We will meet at 10:30 in front of the McDonald’s inside the main railway station (Cottbus Hbf), then we will walk to the Old Town, take some photos, hopefully buy some postcards until lunch time.
The walk is about 1.5 kms long but there is also a tram line.
We will have lunch at Brau & Bistro at 13:00 (1 pm).
Those who don’t feel like walking can go directly there starting from 12:00.
We will have a good time and sign postcards.

Claudia has designed a meeting card for us:

(Entwurf means “draft” in English. It won’t appear on the final postcards, of course!)

We can visit a museum in the afternoon, for example the Wendisches Museum Cottbus / Serbski muzej about the local Sorb community (open until 18:00) or the BLMK – Brandenburgisches Landesmuseum für moderne Kunst (open until 19:00). Both are located in the city centre.

Hallo an alle!
Ich habe am 7. Mai Geburtstag, aber der 7. fällt dieses Jahr auf Sonntag…
Ich werde vom 5. bis zum 8. Mai in Cottbus übernachten und würde mich freuen, auch am 7. jemanden treffen zu können. Wer mag es, seinen Geburtstag allein zu verbringen?!

Meeting-Programm
Wir treffen uns um 10:30 Uhr beim Brunnen auf dem Altmarkt ((hier), dann machen wir einen Stadtbummel. Hoffentlich können wir auch Postkarten von Cottbus kaufen.

Wir haben dann um 13:00 Uhr einen Tisch bei Brau & Bistro gebucht.
Wer den Stadtbummel nicht machen will, kann schon um 12:00 Uhr zum Lokal gehen.
Dort werden wir essen, plaudern, Postkarten schreiben, usw.

Claudia hat für uns eine Meeting-Karte gezeichnet:

Am Nachmittag können wir ein Museum besuchen, z.B. das Wendisches Museum Cottbus / Serbski muzej über die sorbe Gemeinschaft (bis 18:00 Uhr geöffnet) oder das BLMK – Brandenburgisches Landesmuseum für moderne Kunst (bis 18:00 Uhr geöffnet). Beide Museen liegen in der Nähe vom Restaurant.

We will stay in the area for a few days more, after the Spreewald meet-up, and we were planning to visit Cottbus anyway, so we could make it on Sunday.

Hmm, it seems quite difficult to find a suitable place in Cottbus.
One restaurant that may have a table big enough is “Kartoffelkiste” - traditional German food. But the lights there are not that convenient for writing cards.
There is a cafe “Lauterbach” very near from it. Probably you could write cards there. But it only has small tables for two/three people.
Both of them are located in the very center of Altstadt.

am Sonntag Morgen viele Läden und Sehenswürdigkeiten in der Altstadt geschlossen sind. Alternativ könnten wir uns am Bahnhof treffen und mit dem Bus zum Branitzer Park fahren. Wie sieht es bei Euch aus?

Gibt es noch Interesse an diesem Meeting?

Wir haben verschiedene Möglichkeiten:

1. am Morgen einen Spaziergang in der Altstadt zu machen und dann zum Restaurant zu gehen. Aber viele Sehenswürdigkeiten in der Altstadt sollten geschlossen sein, und der von Verfy empfohlene Restaurant ist nicht wirklich einem PC-Meeting geeignet;
2. mit dem Bus vom Bahnhof zum Branitzer Park zu fahren, den Park und das Schloss zu besuchen. Später können wir essen gehen und die Altstadt besuchen (einige Sehenswürdigkeiten sollten nachmittags geöffnet sein);
3. das Meeting in eine andere, besser geeignete Stadt zu versetzen;
4. wenn keine von diesen Optionen klappt, werde ich dieses Meeting absagen.

Hallo Mike ! Viele Grüße von Gabi und Manfred.Wir wären für den Branitzer Park.Kann man auch eine Runde mit der Parkeisenbahn fahren.Wir würden auch kommen,wenn es ein ganz kleines Treffen wird.Wir haben keine Ahnung von Karten ordern,aber finden es nicht schlimm,wenn es keine gibt,Man kann ja andere mitbringen.Gaststätte kennen wir keine.Vor Jahren gab es ein Cafe im Park,wir wissen nicht,ob es das noch gibt.Wir hoffen,dass dich diese Nachricht erreicht,da wir wenig Computererfahrung haben.Direkt antworten per Mail hat nicht geklappt.Es wäre sehr schade,wenn es mit dem Treffen nicht klappen würde.Also dann bis vielleicht bald und ein schönes Osterfest.
