Canada - Where to Get Postcards

This is a wiki of local Canadian stores where you can get postcards, organized by province and city. Feel free to edit it — just click the image button underneath this post.

Any province

  • Head to your post office: Many post offices sell postcards pre-stamped for international destinations. The cost of such postcards is the same as buying an international stamp.
  • Check out your local thrift shops and any place that sells donated stationery. Examples include Salvation Army Thrift Store, Value Village, and church thrift shops.
  • Don’t forget your local museums, art galleries, zoos, aquariums, visitor centres, etc.

Good partial list Adam, you should add the online ones to the main wiki under Canada so it’s easily available to people down the road.

You can also purchase postcards in person at Canada Post offices. There is a good variety to choose from and they come postage paid (international rates). You basically pay for the international postal rate and get the postcard free. Some of the stamps match the picture on the front of the card too!

Where in Canada do you live? We have started a listing at the top of this topic of local businesses and some online shops here in Canada where you can find postcards. It is group sourced, so the more people who add to the list, the more complete it will become.

I have a personal list going of shops in Toronto, should I list here and someone else will add up top or should I edit the original post directly?

You can add it directly to the top post—thanks for helping fill it out!

Have updated the wiki with shops in Toronto and Montréal, as well as a couple from Ottawa and Paris, ON. Happy Post-shopping

Perhaps add Canada Post’s online option too? It’s really worth having when your local P.O. doesn’t have much selection! And shipping to your home is free when your order is $25 or more.

EDMONTON — I found about a dozen different kinds of Edmonton-themed postcards for sale at the trinket shop named “When Pigs Fly” on Whyte Avenue for $1.25 apiece.

10470 82 Avenue, Edmonton, AB T6E 2A2, Canada

I don’t seem to have the option to edit the original post. Perhaps someone will do it for me.

A postcard source that’s often overlooked is museums; they usually have the standard tourist fare, plus a few more unusual ones, related to their collections.

You should be able to edit the post yourself. Anyway, I added the store you mentioned to the list. Thanks!
