They destroyed my stamps

Maybe you can come China and try to do the same thing

Here is an example of my “favorite” very heavy US postal mark for saving electricity. Also – for fun – the Facebook comment I put with it when I posted the photo there:

I’m starting a contest – come up with the best possible meaning for this unlabeled postal service stamp cancellation. It could mean “conserve power”, but I’m betting on “the world is coming unplugged”, or “fund USPS or lose your connections to the world”.

The USPS have become specialists at using this type of extremely heavy wavy line mark that has the added bonus of always obscuring what was being written to me.

In the second example, they were cancelling the Russian stamps for Russia.

Before postcrossing (and a couple weeks on this forum) I didn’t know anything about stamp cancelling. Now I get a little sad when I see pen or marker.

This came in the mail today. The stamps are so cute too. But the cancel mark wasn’t enough for some reason.

And mine were… stolen?

Yes, looks like they were stolen.

I recently moved to a new address and my new mail carrier gives me a hard time and defaces my stamps… :sob:

Again a “registered mail” sticker has been put over the stamps by the Norwegian Post, even though there were space on the envelope to put this sticker without covering any stamps.
I give stamps to a stamp charity who collect stamps (and other collectables like calling cards etc), and the profit is dedicated to the work for “fighting” tuberculosis and work for disabled and young people in Norway.

I’d say that’s still ok.

US post offices do this, too. :frowning: If someone uses multiple stamps, they scratch it with a pen since the machine cannot read too many times. This person went very overboard!! Mostly, it’s just a single line or two through the stamp.
Regardless of quality, I use all the stamps I get in stamp collages, but I can understand how disappointing it would be to see stamps drawn on as many as these if you are a collector. : (

Looks like these fell off on the journey

:man_facepalming: Oh no, that’s terrible.
The philatelic department and the sorting/deliveries department are both under the umbrella a common postal institution. The heads of both departments may even be sharing office space and occasional corporate meetings together. I would definitely send this kind of pictures to the philatelic department of the relevant postal authority to make them fight

Almost no one uses postcards and stamps anymore, shouldn’t they be a little bit ore thankful that we are still interested in those things and that we want to share stamps (that’s definitely NOT an activity of the majority of people who do not even buy stamps)
