Problems with UK International Post?

Wow! So they just thought you could wait for two week? That’s bad.

Where I am there are two regular posties, so never seem to have a problem if one of them is on holiday, the other one covers, doing a longer round.

There are some problems within Germany currently. Many users say they only receive mail 1-3 times per week (instead of 6). Seems as holidays + covid infections decimated the working force of Deutsche Post. It should get better again once the summer holidays are over

My received postcards have been pretty good recently, Japan, Singapore, USA postcards all received in about 7 days, which I thought was pretty good.

Thank you for letting us know about the situation in Germany, could explain why postcards are taking much longer.

Germany postcards usually arrive in less than a week, but I have a few that are now at 15 days.

The Royal Mail are definitely struggling with something. I had a first class letter from the hospital take a month to arrive a few weeks ago.

Wouldn’t be too big a deal but the specialist was advising me to stop a medication! Luckily I survived. It does make me wonder what unintended damage postal delays do to ordinary people.

Funnily enough, last month, 2 of my fastest arriving postcards were to countries that I wouldn’t expect - a postcard I sent to India was registered at 7 days and, get this, one I sent to Thailand took just 5 days! (It looks like 6 days in my figures, but I posted it a day after I got the address.)

None of my postcards are being registered & i’m not sure what to do?

Unfortunately, I think you have to wait for your traveling cards to be registered or until some of them are expired, so you can have new slots

Cards might be registered slower these months because people are gone for holidays, not to mention that there are less deliveries as well because posties might be having holidays too  , extreme weather, covid restrictions, messy international flights due to peak holiday season could be factors to consider of why mails are slower too

You can always join tags and RR games on the forum if you want to send and receive cards without slot limits

Everything has recently slowed down a lot. You’re not alone. I’m finding everything very slow at the moment.

This thread was started by someone in the UK the other day. You might find it helpful.

Hello

I started this thread because I could not send any more postcards as all mine were travelling and for longer than previous ones to the same countries.

But it does seem post is being slow at the moment from the replies I have had.

Since I posted the message, a couple have now arrived, so hopefully you should start to see yours arriving before long.

Last month, Royal Mail managers had a work to rule and two days of strikes, totalling about ten days. The news media said this might impact on post because people working in sorting offices, and postmen, might not be prepared to cross picket lines. I had thought this hadn’t impacted me because I continued to receive mail as normal. But perhaps it had a much bigger impact on outgoing mail?

Thank you x

Thank you

So it’s not just me! I sent my 5 initial cards 8-9 days ago (Germany, Japan, Lithuania, Russia, USA) and I’m just here like *flopping magikarp gif*. I’ve also sent a few through tags but also don’t know if they’ve arrived, and not received any yet.

Hello

If it’s your first postcards that must be annoying.

I can tell you Germany are usually pretty quick, 5-7 days, but I have two that have been travelling for nearly 20 days!

The others can vary, but should all be less than 30 days, but at the moment one to Russia is nearly 50 days. So at the moment you just have to hang in there and hopefully they will get there soon.

I know it’s not much help, but sometimes they can take a long time, 300 days is my record for a sent card and 252 days for a received.

It’s a mystery where these long travelling postcards hanging out.

Yeah, I’m trying to be patient, as best I can. I’ve also worked in Royal Mail sorting centres over Christmas period before and have found things that got lost in some corner or down the back of something when being sorted, so I hold hope that the cards will get there eventually! I hope at least one of them does before World Postcard Day, so I can take part in that.

You’ve got nearly six weeks. It would be VERY bad luck to have none of them arrive. Hopefully, you’ll have some good news in a week or two.

UK cards traditionally have taken about a week, but give USA 10 - 14 days for now.
