The “russian navy - to the bottom!” stamp issue continues the legendary wartime series of postage stamps “russian warship…”.

Back in April 2022, the first postage stamp of the series, “russian warship, go…!”, foreshadowed the destruction by the Armed Forces of Ukraine of the enemy cruiser Moskva, which went down to the bottom immediately after the stamp was put into circulation.

During the two years of the large-scale war, the Ukrainian Defense and Security Forces have sunk, damaged and disabled a third of the russian Black Sea fleet. Among the enemy’s biggest losses there are: dock landing ships Saratov (24 March 2022), Minsk (13 September 2023), Novocherkassk (26 December 2023), Tsezar Kunikov (14 February 2024); guided missile cruiser Moskva (13 April 2022); salvage tug Spasatel Vasily Bekh (17 June 2022); attack submarine Rostov-na-Donu (13 September 2023); patrol ship Sergey Kotov (05 March 2024).

The battle at sea continues. And the next one that could go “to the bottom” is the frigate Admiral Makarov, because the ultimate goal of Ukrainian defenders is the complete absence of russian warships in the Azov-Black Sea region.

On May 12, a postal block dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Caucasian State Natural Biosphere Reserve went into circulation

The Caucasian State Natural Biosphere Reserve named after Christopher Shaposhnikov is the oldest specially protected natural area in the North Caucasus. It is the largest mountain and forest reserve in Europe, its total area exceeds 280 thousand hectares. It is located in the Western Caucasus within three subjects of the Russian Federation — Krasnodar Territory, the Republic of Adygea and the Karachay-Cherkess Republic.

The territory is located on the border of the temperate and subtropical climatic zones. A distinctive feature of the reserve is the high concentration of relict and endemic species of flora and fauna on its territory.

The staff of the reserve is engaged in the preservation and study of the natural course of natural processes and phenomena, the genetic fund of relict and endemic representatives of fauna and flora, many of which are listed in the Red Book of the Russian Federation. The wildlife of the reserve is very diverse: there are over 70 species of mammals, 15 reptiles, 9 amphibians, 21 fish, more than 100 mollusks, about 10,000 insects. The avifauna includes 213 species of birds.

The modern reserve is the heir to the Grand Ducal Kuban Hunting, created in 1888 on the initiative of Grand Dukes Peter Nikolaevich and George Mikhailovich. On May 12, 1924, the Caucasian Bison Reserve was established on the lands of the former hunting. On February 19, 1979, by the decision of UNESCO, the Caucasian Reserve received the status of a biosphere reserve. In 1999, the territory of the reserve was included in the List of UNESCO World Heritage Sites under the name “Western Caucasus”. In January 2008, the reserve was named after its creator Christopher Shaposhnikov.

The bison, which had been exterminated by 1927, was successfully reintegrated into nature in the reserve. As of 2020, its population is stable and has at least 1,200 individuals. Since 2007, a project for the reintegration of the Central Asian leopard has been underway.

The postage stamp depicts a bison, the symbol of the Caucasian State Natural Biosphere Reserve, in the fields — the surroundings of the reserve, as well as the jubilee emblem.
