Dragonflies and 2023 version of Refugee stamp
(The following text comes from Cyprus Postal Services)
Dragonflies are one of the first flying insects on earth, they make the longest migration of any insect and are the most successful predators in the animal kingdom. More than 6.000 species have been described worldwide; in Cyprus we have recently seen 32. Dragonflies undergo incomplete metamorphosis, going straight from larva to adult, the larva being aquatic. Dragonflies are important in maintaining the balance of the ecosystems, both as predators and as food for other animals.
