Maxicards chat

April was a lucky month for maxicards, as we had cute baby animal stamps!

Do the postmarking teams only apply in blue ink now? Or could you request another colour such as black?

I know it is so the data matrix barcode can be read, but these are philatelic items which wouldn’t be digitally cancelled right?

Since the change only blue is available unfortunately

@Maddymail abd blue is not that ptoblem in general but the ink on the badger cards (all not only this) are just very faint and light. In comparison the lynxy id much better the ink and colour

I understand the reasoning but this also defeats the purpose of using maxicards as a cheaper option (in Australia at least). A maxicard may cost under $2 to send to Europe but normal postage is $3.50. If we were to put the maxicard in an envelope then we would be paying for the maxicard PLUS the $3.50 on the envelope.

I get this today, so cute!

I just made these ones. The stamps and postmarks celebrate Australian film directors, and the cards show old cinemas in Melbourne (but didn’t have five different ones). The postmarks are not that distinct, so I’m so-so on these.

I’m thinking about trying to make my first maxicard this month… we’ll see how that goes haha.

I know it was discussed a bit earlier about postmarks on glossy cards, but I was curious if any folks from the USA specifically had trouble with glossy cards. I feel like the ink USPS uses sticks to and stains everything

I enjoyed making this maxicard yesterday. It’s for 100th children’s day. So cute!

Hi!
See my maximaphily group on Facebook for examples of maxicards, Q&A, etc.

Your best option is to spray the postcard with Matte Finish Spray, before you get the stamp and the postmark.

I’m a bit late to the party, but I eventually also made some polar lights maxicards:

And, this month, some about our new EUROPA stamp:

I wonder if there will also be an official issue of the europa theme maximum card

it also depends on where are you sending the cards to get postmarked. I find the postal workers for official USPS first day postmarks do a better job than local USPS that only offer a special postmark for a certain event. I guess the first day postmark office is just more experienced with postmarking :stuck_out_tongue: But I do send about 5 cards when an interesting postmark comes out, to give them a chance to practice. Most of my postcards are a bit glossy, so I always keep my fingers crossed when sending postmark requests!

some of my good results on glossy postcard:

In recent months I’ve created some Queen Elizabeth Platinum Jubilee maxicards.

Nicely done! The date on EIIR seems bit far from postmark :joy:(i know it’s the design itself)

Yes it is, I think it is a self-inking handstamp with easy access to date changes, as that handstamp is avaliable throughout 2022.

Hi, my question is, how big are the maxicards? Im cm please.
Thanks

Maxicard doesn’t depend on size. I think it comes with the standard size of the normal postcards in your country
Its something like this
