Matching stamps to postcards

I can only get one kind of international stamps at the post office. The only kind I have is pink flowers. So unless I can find a matching flower card, no. Although when I mail within the U.S.A I have used stamps to match the holiday

Sometimes when I was lucky enough to find the matching card to a stamp (it’s easier this way than searching the right stamp for a card you already have in stock) I stick it on the card to avoid using them all on other ones before I get the chance to send the actual postcard.
It’s most likely it will be an art card though, since I have several art stamps matching a postcard.

You do know that if you are mailing internationally, you don’t necessarily have to use the international forever stamp. You can use any stamps, as long as the value adds up to $1.20. That may make it easier for you to match postcards with the stamps.

Many years ago, I bought monoi stamps at a monoi-related event and they offered me this postcard for each stamp I bought, so I was able to send cards with perfectly matching stamps. It was fun. I like it when our post issues stamps on themes that are shown on local cards - whales, sharks, Taputapuatea, flag…

Hard unless you send a Christmas postcard with a Christmas stamp as unfortunately we don`t have many pretty nice stamps.

Really? Personally I think Royal Mail issues a lot of pretty stamps. I’m always jealous when I dare to have a look in their online shop.

I ordered some of those stamps too. Sadly the postcard sets were sold out.

I hope that they have more stock at some point as I was planning on buying some more. They will probably be on eBay for inflated prices by now.

Trying to match the stamp is part of the fun!

This card with a view on traditional Dutch canal houses in Delft by MC Escher of course got the following stamp:

I managed to match these:

Both show the night view by the Singapore River, albeit from different angles. The building with three towers in the background is our iconic Marina Bay Sands (a hotel cum shopping centre cum casino). It’s where the famous infinity pool is.

There are many places to get vintage stamps. as long as it adds up to 1.20 then its ok. The USA international ones are dissapointing so I use other stamps instead! Feel free to PM me, I will send you a starter batch if you want.

Thats a really good and popular combo, there are even lighthouse cards vintage from the USPS with pre-printed postage (needs additional postage now)

I got this card !

I love it, the stamp is on the picture side of the card

I could be matching right now, as my hometown got an anniversary stamp last year. Only one problem, they come in coils of 100 and half of those are of a different town… I can’t afford that!

Edit: Here’s the stamp, anyway:

Hi Zoodog,

Don’t feel limited by that 1 international stamp. https://store.usps.com/store/product/buy-stamps/brush-rabbit-S_740304

I’m from the US too. I use a combination of stamps adding up to $1.20 (the cost of an international stamp. For example two 55c Forever stamps and a 10c stamp. There are lots of less than 55c Forevers to choose from.

I just bought a bunch of 20c Rabbit stamps. And 36c Barn Stamps.

And they deliver to your house.

These don’t exactly match, but I enjoyed the symmetry of the front of the card showing a black and white engagement print of the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh, and the stamp being a black and white engagement portrait of their grandson Prince Harry and Meghan Markle

This kind of card is called a maximum card (or maxicard, maxi-card). They consist of a postcard with a matching stamp on the picture side and a special cancellation mark. There is also a thread about this topic.
