US Proposed Price Increases - 01/21/2024

DeJoy, the guy who in 2020 had no idea of the cost of a postcard stamp, is running amuck! Get rid of him! :hushed:

Interesting. I buy a lot of stamps off Ebay. I have never had anything happen or the PO send them back to me.

Just donā€™t anyone mention this to my husband. :smirk:

Itā€™s not just new U.S. stamps that glow under U.Vā€¦ Theyā€™ve glowed under U.V. light for years, because of their ā€œtagging.ā€

Iā€™m pretty sure the Facebook offers are for fakes, and if you use fake stamps, best case is, USPS will simply destroy your mail. Worst case is, you go to jail for stealing from USPS or something (trying to send mail without paying for postage). Either way, itā€™s not worth it.

About two years ago they announced theyā€™d be hiking the price every 6 months

Yes, that is true. A few years ago there was a store that bought discount items from the internet and sold them locally. One day I saw that they had some cheap stamps so I bought a few. When I got home I tested them under black light compared to an identical stamp on an envelope I had received through the mail. The stamps I just bought did not glow and the one from the envelope did.

I always meant to go back to that store to show them that they were selling fake stamps, (because Iā€™m pretty sure they had no idea) but Covid shut everything down around that time and the store went out of business.

Has anyone purchased stamps from ā€œThe TikTok Storeā€?
@speechlady99

Iā€™m curious about them. I have not.

Hello! Not sure if this is the correct place to ask this question. After the price increase to 53Ā¢, can I still mail postcards using the postcard stamps (51Ā¢)? Do I need to attach additional postage?

No extra postage! Those 51 cent postcard stamps are FOREVER the current value for a domestic postcard in the future

this is why - if you can afford it - you should stock up a bit on Forever stamps, before the next price increase ! :face_with_peeking_eye:

You can also go to this thead where postcrossers discuss using old stamps on their postcards in conjunction with other new or old stamps. In some cases you can save money by buying ā€œunder face valueā€ for unused old stamps! and you can still use them for the amount listed on the stamp. You might need to do a bit of math if you use non-international specific stamps.

I was so lucky. I didnā€™t know of the price increase but noticed that the Chinese New year stamps were a little pricier compared with other Forever so I research and I was able to buy some 66c stamps that are now worthy 68c.
The only thing that didnā€™t work is that I like to make up International with 2 forever and then add small postage (people like more than 1 stamp in their cards and International design is so boring and almost never changes), before that math was 66+66+10+5+3 for 1.50 now it would be 68+68+10+5+4 for 1.55 so I have an excess of 3c lamps stamps and would have to by some 1c, or use 68+68+10+10 or 68+68+10+5+5 and lose 1c, lol

Iā€™ve been using two forever and a vintage 13 cent & 6 cent stamps.

If you have an excess of now-unnecessary 3c stamps, you can also use a combination of 2Ɨ 68c + 10c + 3Ɨ 3c, until youā€™ve exhausted your supply.

Great, it will be boring (3 of the same) but it worksā€¦ Thanks for the suggestion

My new go to combination now is:
2 ounce + 1 Postcard Stamp + 10 Ā¢ pears
92+53+10 = 1.55

itā€™s a bit boring but super simple as itā€™s just 3 stamps and i donā€™t have to glue any vintage stamps which is what i had to do before.
