MEETUP PLAN:
Welcome to the late summer day trip organized by the Finnish Postcrossing Friends Association, which will take us to the UNESCO World Heritage site Verla and the Vuohijärvi Nature and Culture House. The association provides bus transportation for the trip from Kouvola railway station and back.
From the railway station, we will travel to Verla, where we will enjoy lunch at Restaurant Verla. After lunch, we will have time to explore the area’s exhibitions and craft shops on our own before a guided tour of the Verla Mill Museum. After the tour, there will be more time to continue exploring the exhibitions and shops.
From Verla, we will travel a short distance to the Vuohijärvi Nature and Culture House, which this summer features a memorial exhibition of our association’s 2018 artist, Hannu Hautala, titled “Golden Eagle and White Swan III,” showcasing a wide collection of photos by Finland’s and the world’s most renowned nature photographer. There are also plenty of postcards for sale at Vuohijärvi. After visiting the exhibition, we will enjoy a coffee break with what are said to be the best cinnamon rolls in Finland at Café Kaakkuri. The day concludes with a return trip to Kouvola railway station.
