1 @Bakersmom Thank you very much for the pretty giraffes! I love the giraffe and astronaut stickers  You have to share your tip for not the free great food

2 @CrimsonKing Thank you my friend for the cutest little fox family. Hope you had a great family trip/reunion

4 @jenhart Thank you so much for Palm Springs  I actually bought some copies of this card but didn’t send myself one!!

5 @carolreader Thank you for the beautiful little bird! I am sure you saw amazing sights nevertheless!

7 @nursegarry Thank you very much for sending the colorful streets of Sayulita. I had no idea where it was - I had to Google it!

8 @Shesa-Renegade Thank you so much for the all-flamingo card, and washi, and stickers! I am a big advocate of longer weekends. Though with WFH, I find it less daunting to work when it’s nice. I open all the windows in my sunroom as I work!

9 @WrenAtTheBeach Thank you for the cute little ice cream place. Now I want some too. It’s been pretty cold here this last week so the craving hasn’t been so bad!

11 @sarahgrab1 Thank you very much for the traveler flamingo! I have a few days planned in Sandbanks at the beginning of next month!

14 @GeoJosh Thank you so much for the amazing Flamingo Inn vintage card - complete with round corners! I have a soft spot for round corners. I loved your ice cream date story!

16 @jacieslar Thank you for the beautiful Kauai card. I have never been to Hawaii but I’d love to one day. I loved the tiki sticker

17 @YOIYUMTEWA Thank you for the Bob Ross card! I have seen all the memes, but here in Canada I don’t think he is as popular as in the US!

22 @uconn Thank you so much for the giraffes with so many great stamps. Love the Zip code one. I’m not as quick as Craig for updating

24 @roxy Thank you for the map bookstore… I’d love to buy everything there

25 @4kids2pay4 Thank you very much for the vintage dollhouse! A great addition to my collection with many beautiful details. I’m trying to build a miniature kit with my 4 y.o. this summer. It’s been a long project

26 @sarahaeyo Thank you so much for the beautiful flamingo postcard!! It’s probably going to be a mainly staycation summer for me as well… Only a small 3-day getaway planned!

28 @TwoDoggies Thank you for the funny cicada poster! We hear them here but rarely see any. When my son was 2 he was scared of the sound and didn’t want to go outside when we heard them.

30 @RockyRoadTrip Thank you for the great NYSE postcard! I didn’t have it! Isn’t it crazy that people used to yell and get crazy in these places where now you can just do it online?

#13 Wondering where my postcards have gone! Mailed them the first week of June and none have been reported.

#13 with more postcards from:

#1 @Bakersmom – Thank you for the lovely mushrooms and great stickers! We are fortunate enough to have all our grandchildren nearby, so I can appreciate your move to Richmond. Your father was a jockey – very cool!

#10 @AtlasPostal – Thank you for the fantastic Year of the Dragon maxicard which you drew and had printed! You are very talented! I actually want to keep it for myself, but Giuliana will love it!

#11 @sarahgrab1 – Thank you so much for the lovely strawberry card, washi and sticker! We have a couple of day trips in mind for the twins and a week in Cape May NJ with one of our daughters and her family. I do not like the stifling hot weather but do love going to the beach!

#23 @mon23 – Thank you for the Lantern Press Chicago Skyline at Sunset! Great postcard! I especially enjoyed the quote about circumstances and situations. Definitely applies to my life.

#24 @roxy – Thank you for the postcard of Mont-Tremblant Provincial Park in Québec! A very nice addition to the collection. 400 lakes is a lot of lakes! Sounds lovely.

#27 @tia272 – Big juicy strawberries! Thank you! We made strawberry jam many years ago along with the best strawberry topping which we used on vanilla ice cream. Never had anything as good again! Enjoy the fruits of your labor!

#28 @TwoDoggies – I meant to order some of these cards from Chris Arndt, but never got around to it. This one is so funny! “Fortify the Flora!” My husband, Tony, who pretty much reads my postcards before I see them, loved this one. Thank you! So gross that your dog eats them. Yuck!

#30 @RockyRoadTrip – Now you had me on the hunt. These are just referred to as Disco Dots and each dot has a metallic center. It’s 100% cotton fabric used for quilting, bags, etc. Thank you! We do have plans for at least a week in Cape May with one of our daughters and her family. I’m sure I’ll scoot down there again when the opportunity presents. So nice having my brother’s house to go to!

#9 Reporting many wonderful cards today!

#1 @Bakersmom sent a beautiful stormy waterfall illustration. Thank you! I remember dittos… and that smell. I love going old school. I am very easily distracted, and most of the time I can only get work done once I remove technology from the equation.

#2 @CrimsonKing sent a LouPaper Colorado card from my favorites list…Thank you! I have a cousin in the Vail area. I haven’t been out there in a long time. It would be a nice break from this heat! I agree about the quieter life sentiment.

#7 @nursegarry sent a beautiful illustration of the Consumer’s Buildings from the 1939 World’s Fair with some wonderful stamps. Thank you! I had no idea the World’s Fair still existed. How did I not know that?!

#10 @AtlasPostal sent a beautiful black & white photo of the Dead Sea. Thank you! And Thank you for the manatee stamp and sharing one of your favorite memories with me.

#11 @sarahgrab1 sent a wonderful pumpkin pie illustration. Thank you! Now I’m craving pie and cheesecake!

#12 @CalicoBeer sent a picturesque card of Piedmont Park in Atlanta. I’ve been by the park a few times when I’ve visited the city, but I’ve never had the chance to walk around. It always looks so inviting.

#14 @GeoJosh sent a wonderful Clark Little card. Thank you! I have loved his photography for years. Your dog wanting to be adopted by a Hawaiian family made me laugh. It sounds like Charlie has a wonderful home!

#16 @jacieslar sent a lovely Hawaiian Memories illustration. Thank you! How wonderful you were in Kauai! I hope you had a wonderful time!

#17 @YOIYUMTEWA sent a fantastic Penguin Classics bookshelf card. Thank you! I’ve read many of these.

#19 @ellistrations sent a wonderful Route 66 card from my favorites list with vintage stamps. Thank you! I have been on parts of Route 66, but I one day hope to travel the entire route. I did a lot of research about it for a book and fell in love with it.

#22 @uconn sent an illustrated Fort Marion National Monument card by artist C. Don Powell. Thank you! I love this style of poster, as well. I have 3 Body Problem on my watchlist. It looks really good!

#23 @mon23 sent a delicious looking slice of pumpkin pie card. Thank you! My stomach is growling for lunch and it’s going to be disappointed there isn’t any pie for dessert. And thank you for sharing those wonderful quotes with me!

#28 reporting cards received:

#10 @AtlasPostal sent a linen GF Ohio card. We have a few inflatables for various holidays. We went on a kick in 2022 putting them up and then missed most of the holidays in 2023

#11 @sarahgrab1 sent a beautiful unicorn card with a pink frame. Summer plans right now are just 5 days at Rehoboth Beach, Delaware at the end of June. That’s it. We have a big trip this fall.

#19 @ellistrations sent an evil looking blue Pixie from Harry Potter and a bathtub stamp. Not a happy looking creature!

#24 @roxy sent a colorful map card of Florida. Aww, thank you about Missy. She was such a good dog. Her loss is just sad. On the other hand, I’ve got this ornery Conure that’ll probably outlive all of us.

#27 @tia272 sent a Lantern Press, Salem, Massachusetts witch stirring her cauldron. A joke from back in the day, which may lose something in translation by writing it. So, I’m living near D.C. and used to work in D.C. which at the time I moved here was known for its violent crime. Their b-ball team was the Washington Bullets. It was going to be renamed to disconnect it from the known violence of the city. We all said, oh, then they’re going to remove the name Washington? (maybe you had to be there?)

#3 received - and all my cards are in the mail

#4 @jenhart Perfect summer card!

#6 @mikeyz1 Great flying contraption! Great mixture!

#18 @LaurenceB Great card! Love the stickers!

#23 @mon23 Funny card!! I used to have purple hair - before that it was blue. Now… back to being blond ( because it hides the gray better!).

#30 @RockyRoadTrip Love this card!! We do have a lot of dispensaries - but they are definitely turning corporate. We even have a “company store” one. Best one is in Carmel in an old jewelry store - they kept all the displays and it definitely caters to the “Carmel” older crowd.

Thank you all!!!

#1 @Bakersmom A card showing completely stacked shelves in a bookstore - wow!

#2 @CrimsonKing A Detroit skyline view. Hope your visit to CO was enjoyable!

#4 @jenhart A Portland skyline view. Your message made me laugh out loud, because I have thought the same thing - it makes no sense why I enjoy the shows but do not enjoy the activity! We humans are filled with such contradictions. :slightly_smiling_face:

#5 @carolreader A Hawaii card with some craters. I loved your reading your message. It was inspiring to me. I’m glad you like to hike and glad you got to cross something off your bucket list!

#7 @nursegarry A card with Valentine heart candies with some unique messages. Amusing!

#17 @YOIYUMTEWA A vintage Baltimore streetcar. We’re on the same page - I have also gone periods with not owning a car and would be okay with it again as well!

#19 @ellistrations A card of purple asparagus beans. I’ve received one of these vegetable cards before from whatever this set is, and I love them.

#25 received cards from #12 and #17

#12 @CalicoBeer sent a Fun Facts card on longhorns. They have daily cattle drives in Fort Worth every day, which is a fun place to take visitors. That is about an hour away. Nacogdoches is around a 4 hour drive southeast. Here is a fun fact for you. Did you know the world record holder for longest horn span is 10 feet 7.4 inches? That belongs to Poncho Via of Goodwater, Alabama.

#17 @YOIYUMTEWA sent the sultry Marilyn Monroe from early in her career. Great choice and very happy to add this lady to my collection. I agree with you, a few extra days, does make it easier to prepare the cards.

Thank you both for these great cards!

NARR June 2024
Report #3

A few more to report:

#06 @mikeyZ1: sent a linen card of “Ohio’s Most Beautiful” motel (as judged by whom? The Buckeye State Nearsighted Association?) It’s the La Siesta, in Strongville, OH. Or rather, it was… their beauty reigned supreme until 2020, when this property was finally razed to become the site of a Burger King and Starbucks. I guess their historic landmark application got turned down! Thanks!

and below, just before being torn down in 2020:

Begging the question: Who’s Ohio’s most beautiful now??

#12 @CalicoBeer: sent a shot of NYC’s ManhattanHenge a biannual sol-estial event where the sun sets perfectly aligned to the city’s crosstown streets. No, I have never been, though I hear (and have seen on the news) it attracts quite the crowd. Thanks!

#15 @Architeuthis: sent a vintage nighttime shot of downtown Reno, NV. Yeah, I have to agree with your friend on Atlantic City. It’s gotten pretty skeevy there. Though places like Reno and (especially) Laughlin, NV aren’t much better. I would recommend the tribal casinos. In most cases, those are better managed and cleaner. (But sadly, they lack the coveted kitsch factor!) Thanks!

Thanks all!

All my cards have been sent

#14 here checking in with some amazing received cards!..…

#2 @CrimsonKing Thanks for the old school linen card!

#18 @LaurenceB Thanks for the card of what sounds like a completely underwhelming museum in Bemidji, MN containing “The Fireplace of States” a fireplace built from stones from all parts of North America!

#19 @ellistrations Good to “see” you as always! Love the Hawaiian volcano!!!

#26 @sarahaeyo Thanks so much for the card of Hong Kong- I was fortunate enough to visit in 2016 and I’d love to go back- if you do go I highly recommend hiking “The Dragons Back Trail” a beautiful easy hike that gives you a completely different side of Hong Kong and ends at a lovely beach

#28 @TwoDoggies I love this vintage card from the trolley museum- it’s very close to where I live and I’ve never made it around to visiting

Thanks again everyone!

#14 @GeoJosh : balloon safari in Tanzania. That certainly is the trip of a lifetime! I’d be the one all into the birds rather than the “Big Three.”

#24 @roxy : lighthouse in Bermuda. I have never been there either - every time I think of booking a cruise there something else comes up!

#13 @ladybug513 great underwater card! Thanks

#14 @GeoJosh I know Quassy well, although it’s been many years since I’ve been there. A great card!
Their old roller coaster Mad Mouse had the feel at the top of the drop, that it would bring you into the water!

#29 @melvnoble Automobile suits for dogs, from 1904. Too funny!

#7 @nursegarry Thank you Garry for the card :eye: :candy:!! I hope you bump into him too and tell him we all say hello, hehe, have fun in Budapest! Traveling is fun.

#12 @CalicoBeer Thank you Victoria for the Ferris Wheel! :ferris_wheel: I’ve only been to Chicago through the airport, I never really visited the city. It’s currently 4 hours north of where I live. I’m not a big fan of being up so high and possibly becoming stuck at the top. I was once stuck in the St. Louis Arch coming back down from the top and the tram down just stopped halfway for about 10 minutes and it was a small space for 4 people, new fear was unlocked that day: being trapped with the in-laws.

#15 @architeuthis Thank you Ruth for the Star Wars card! When Star Wars first came out and I was young, my favorite character was Chewbacca, haha. Spaceballs is a great movie, don’t care what anyone says.

#21 @Beachyblonde Thank you Whitney for the coffee card! :coffee: I drink unsweetened tea throughout the day and I feel it too when I don’t have my caffeine fix.
