Life is good, but my brain is asleep. I received a few more cards the last few days:

@treeclimber #7 – Powell’s Books in Portland, Oregon. One great thing about the COVID, I’ve had a lot more time to read!
@AccentOnHakes #15 – Death Valley National Park, such a beautiful place. It’s been a long time since I’ve been there–it wasn’t yet a National Park. I do want to go back.
@katie333 #18 – Lovely clouds above a quiet lake and wonderful stamps.
@roxy #24 – A stack of “Love and Romance” books–I’ve been doing a lot of reading during the pandemic, and am happy for new titles. I love the Lorne Green stamp.
Thank you!

#29 - One postcard today!

Thank you @cawindt for this great postcard of mathematician and theoretical physicist Emmy Noether for Women’s History Month! Love it! I agree, it’s great to see recognition of the contributions of women to the world!

#4 @anon38654847 Thank you, Faith for the Amish Country card. Their lifestyle is admirable. I brought my children up in a small Brethren church and it’s high on my list of “Good Choices I Made”. The plain living example the elders set for us was very grounding for us as a family. The men wore their beards in the same style.

#8 @Shesa-Renegade Thank you for the Mermaid with the Whale card. That art style is one of my favorites, so I’ve added Maja Lindberg to my list of new artists to follow. Your whale stamp and doodle-hearts just add so much to the card. So many in this group decorate the postcards so nicely, I decided to pull out some of my Scrapbooking goodies I have stored away and I’m joining in the fun! My very short bucket list has really only 1 item; I’d love to take a cruise to observe the whales off the West Coast. I saw Seymour Simon’s Whales at an Imax Theatre 20 to 30 years ago, and that was the seed. Lastly, thank you for the Welcome. I do love this group and am looking forward to upcoming months.

#24 @roxy Brenda, thank you so much for the Ottawa card with the awesome stamps! I personally know only 2 Canadians, and they lived with me and my family for awhile. Ms. Linda cooked some very unique dishes that we enjoyed. She is French-Canadian, and taught French (through the Codofil program) at the school where I taught, so she and her son entertained us with their expressions and personalities daily. Thank you also for the Welcome. This is my first RR, and I am so impressed with how much fun it is and how everyone is warm, friendly and interesting.

#1 @cawindt

Thankyou for the mathematician Maryam mirzakhani card, thankyou for honoring women…

#28 with one card today, from #2 @oniisen: an illustration of an American redstart. They are such cool little birds. I’ve only seen them a few times. It’s funny that I can recall where I spotted most birds for the first time. It’s always a little thrill of discovery.

#18 @katie333: Basilica of San Marco, Venice.

#1 @cawindt - Women in Science, thank you! I hope you enjoy your time! I definitely know how nice it is to have a change of scenery out the window and different walls!

#24 @roxy - city cat, thank you! I love it! We had Spring weather for a week and now it’s gotten pretty cold again. I’m ready for summer if this is how Spring is going to be! Haha.

#8 received another card today. YAY!

#18 @katie333 sent a wonderful card of the northern lights. Oh, to see them is just a dream of mine. Let’s hope we are able to travel very soon.

To Receive: 1, 21, 30

Two more cards to report from:

#4 @anon38654847 - Thank you for the vintage Olivetti typewriter ad! Nice stickers, too! So many postcrossers have stories about their cats interrupting them while either writing out or acknowledging receipt of postcards. They crave your attention!

#7 @treeclimber - Thank you so very much for the Wittelsbach Fountain in Munchen, Germany! I’m happy to add it to the collection. A large box of biodegradable paper mulch arrived the other day, so I guess it’s time to prep our garden, too. I like growing fresh vegetables, but hate weeding! But, it’s worth it!

#1 @cawindt thank you for the Ada Lovelace postcard! It’s great learning about female mathematicians! If I knew what I know now, I would have focused more on school, but hopefully the next generations of women will have an easier time choosing their careers and achieving their goals

#2 @oniisen thank you for the koala postcard! They are one of my favorite animals, so cute! They definitely do have a nice life just sleeping most of the day!

#15 had lots of cards arrive over the past few days.

@oniisen #2 A Japanese garden sketch. Oooh, I LOVE kimbap! There aren’t any Korean places where I live, but that doesn’t stop the cravings…
@carolreader #5 Natural Bridge Sky Life! Ooh! Hiking up and then taking the lift down sounds so fun. And according to Google Maps, there’s a gift shop at the bottom so you can buy postcards after!
@TandemStoker #11 a fun card about palm reading. I don’t buy into that stuff, and have never had it done. If I were you, I’d just choose to believe your grandmother
@BarbL #17 Blythewood town hall. Thanks for the history lesson!
@RockyRoadTrip #30 A very cool New Zealand card! I still have a few years before I graduate. Feels like forever!

#1 @cawindt – Alice Paul! I learned about her when I started going to meetings of the League of Women Voters. Unfortunately, I’ve been less involved with the group since the pandemic. Their Zoom meetings didn’t do it for me. But we see the light at the end of the tunnel, I think. Great card - thank you.

#2 @oniisen – Yum. A grilled cheese sandwich from my favorites, both dietary and postcard! Thank you. I agree, grilled cheese and tomato soup are perfect.

#4 @anon38654847 – Every Postcrosser’s favorite, an unusual mailbox - or post box, in England. Cool card. Thanks. We’re getting a lot more sunny days now, and spring is here!

March 2021 NARR
Report #2

More March Card Madness!

#01 @cawindt: sent a terrific protest shot from the women’s suffrage movement. Shows a couple of women from the NY delegate, withstanding the rain outside the gates of the White House, calling out President Wilson with their sign. And you’re right, they would never be able to get that near the presidential residence today. Thanks!

#04 @anon38654847: sent a vintage linen reprint of a tower in Europe that I didn’t recognize. After some poking around on Google and Google Translate, I learned it was the monument to William Tell, Switzerland’s national folk hero, in Altdorf. While he is most widely known for shooting the apple off his son’s head, Tell was actually a domestic terrorist, actively defying the rule of tyrannical Austrians who had taken over the city. Great stuff. Thanks!

#05 @carolreader: sent a shot of a “crazy” board of someone trying to make connections about UFOs and Area 51. Thanks for this! I don’t get many conspiracy theory cards and this one is interesting. But you’re right, it’s getting easier than ever to believe in some of them! Thanks, Trump!

#07 @treeclimber: sent a great, if visually cluttered, shot of the Trade Winds motor inn in Rockland, Maine. Flags, a sign for a restaurant, a separate whiteboard telling when breakfast is served (5:30 to 8:30 am) and myriad Triple-A and credit card placards crowd the scene. It’s still around today, although it’s gone through a structural makeover and looks more like condo apartments. Thanks!

#08 @shesa-renegade: sent a wonderful addition to my highway postcard collection with a picturesque shot of the Banff-Jasper Highway cutting through the Canadian Rockies. Your houseboat getaway sounds like quite the adventure. Enjoy and thanks!

#16 @hootnoodle: sent a protest sign from 2003 that has just as much relevance today. Suggests that American minds are brainwashed - but they still have very bloody hands! I’m glad you are taking a break from political watch-dogging. That was an exhausting 4-years! Thank goodness we are back to somewhat normalcy and every day isn’t another reason to cringe. Thanks for the Take Action tip.

#18 @Katie333: sent a bizarre shot of a Delta Snowmobile taking tourists across the Columbia Ice Fields in Jasper National Park in Alberta, Canada. This isn’t your typical snowmobile. It’s like the Chariot the Robinson Family tooled around in while exploring planets on Lost in Space! They still offer these tours, but the mobile has been updated and has loss all the funkiness of this vintage beauty. Great shot. Thanks!

#24 @roxy: sent the totally tasteless, peeing pig postcard from the World’s Tackiest Postcard collection. I sent my copy to a friend years ago, so I knew I could count on someone like you to think of me with this classless gem. Thanks!

Okay, so all my March cards have been sent…

Thanks everyone!
