Postal History

India made postal history, exactly 110 years ago!
I couldn’t believe it either…but it was on this day (18 Feb) in 1911 that French pilot Henri Pequet carried about 6,000 cards and letters on an airplane! Today is exactly 110 years since this historic delivery, the world’s first official airmail that was flown from #Allahabad Polo ground to Naini…! :slightly_smiling_face:

What is your favourite bit of postal history?

Cool that the date was recorded - so many are not. That was only about a 10km flight right?

I don’t have a specific date, but I found some interesting sites talking about how postcards were used to share song lyrics in the late 19th & early 20th centuries, including postcards in WWI - fascinating stuff.
