Today I noticed that my username is suddenly without capital letter and I wonder why. It doesn’t seem to be a general problem as I still see many names with a capital letter. I haven’t changed this by myself.

Yes, but that was on purpose 
I changed it yesterday.

The username can only be changed on the main website, on the Account Settings. Could it be that when changing something else on that form, the field to change the username was auto-filled by your browser with the different case? That’s the only thing I can think of.
Regardless, you can change it back (on the same page): case changes don’t count to the number of allowed username changes.
