I’ve received a wooden card from Switzerland to UK which was absolutely fine, and send a cork with sand detail from Tenerife to UK and I believe that was also fine.

I would leave it how it is. I think that it’s cooler that way.

I had two sent to me last year and sent one myself domestically from Pennsylvania to Virginia and received two from Hawaii. As someone stated above: hand cancel was important and they held up just fine. The Hawaii sender overpaid with stamps but it was the safe bet- their card was like 1/4 inch thick. Best of luck!
