Christmas market meetup in Oslo, Norway, Saturday December 2nd, 2023

:world_map: CITY/REGION: Oslo, Norway
:round_pushpin: MEETUP PLACE: Norsk Folkemuseum, Museumsveien 10, main entrance
:calendar: DATE: December 2nd, 2023
:alarm_clock: TIME: 12pm
:page_facing_up: MEETUP PLAN: Visiting the Christmas market, shopping for Christmas presents, sitting down for some hot drinks and/or lunch, writing postcards, chatting

Hello all, we’ve been talking about this for a couple of meetups now, so I’m just making it official. The traditional Christmas market at the Folk Museum is in the works and we will visit as we have done several times before. This is a great place to find some unique Christmas presents, and of course the museum itself is always worth a visit. It is the oldest open air museum in the world and it is very charming with all its Christmas decorations at this time of year

As usual, bring postcards to write, sign or show off. Or just come and hang out with other Postcrossers. Welcome!

If you’re planning to attend, it’s great if you can let us know in this thread. I should probably book a table. But should we go to Arcadia (where I think the gluten free selection is pretty lousy) or should we go a little further afield to Hjemme hos svigers? Discuss in the comments!

@KAS: It’s your job to promote this on Facebook as usual.

Hope to see many of you there!

I don’t know if there will be a meetup card for this meetup … ? Another thing we should discuss :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Promoting away!

Hjemme hos svigers gets my vote, never been there so time to try something new :joy:

Also it would be fun with a dedicated meetup card. Does anyone have a(some) suitable snowy wintry Christmassy photo(s) from Folkemuseet that we could perhaps use? :snowflake: :snowman:

I want to join

Too bad I’m busy that day, selling Chrismas cakes at another Chrismas market!

Anyone interested in meetup cards for this? Thinking just a Christmas card type thing with logo and Christmas market meetup info, since noone has any suitable pictures. Let me know asap, we’ll need to order them soon if we want them. Thanks!

I’m interested! Maybe they could be a little generic though - just “Oslo Christmas market meetup” with no date? Then we could use them next year as well :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Good idea! Looking at this now.

So here’s my suggestion for a (somewhat) generic meetup card for this.

Ignore the “proof” watermark and click image for bigger view.

Let me know by Saturday 18 November how many you want! Thanks!

Update 20 November: 100 cards are ordered now. Regular shipping (which is now 110! They increased it by 10 kr!) since we can’t wait for Economy. 50 kr discount for orders over 500 kr, so total price incl shipping came to 647 kr = 6.5 kr per card. All 100 cards are spoken for, there are no more available.

Orders & prices:
KAS - 20 (= 130 kr) paid
LeishaCamden - 15 (= 98 kr)
marit_la - 20 (= 130 kr) paid
Inger71 - 30 (= 195 kr) paid
KaterinaIII - 15 (= 98 kr)

Hello dear Postcrossers!
I would be very interested in swap the wonderful card.
My offers:

Enjoy your meeting and thank you in advance.

Cards arrived just now, looking quite nice. Amazed they arrived so quickly. I usually only order Economy shipping which takes like 2 weeks. Maybe it’s worth paying 110 kr for faster shipping
