Can i put clear tape over the address?

I send a card to Russia. But the paper was really slippy and smudged some of the ink. I put clear tape over the receivers address. Now i fear the postcard won’t arrive. Is it safe to do that?
Thank you for all answers.

I received card with clear tape over the address many many times

It shouldn’t be a problem as long as it’s clearly readable

I put tape over the address everytime I use a card that has a glossy writing surface. My favorite quick dry permanent water resistant gel pens are useless on some postcards. My post office has never complained about clear tape unless it goes over any part of a stamp. The USPS doesn’t allow that.

Yes, you can. It doesn’t matter. The main thing is that the address is written legibly

Yes. I almost always use clear tape because the sorting machines also cause stains and stripes .
