As far as I know the strike is only in Wallonie and Brussel. You are in Flandern, this might not effect you.

A week without mail 
Our mail distribution system is located in Liège and so this strike is affecting Flanders as well!

I understand that in some ways Belgium is two parallel societies, but a strike on the national postal system by language seems truly odd.

They have different workers unions, one for the Flemish other for the Walloon.
They have also in Belgium two different Youth Hostel Associations.
