I’ve generated few cards on WPD October 1 though it shows Sep 30, which is still under WPD! @mundoo is right, it does help waiting mid-day of Oct 1 in local time zone in generating WPD addresses. Definitely will try next year! 
As long as it was 1 October in your time zone then you will get the WPD badge when the postcards are received and registered. The Sep 30 is the time zone that the Postcrossing server was still at when you requested.
