3.Tong’an confucius Temple | design by Mickey

The Confucian Temple is an ancestral temple to commemorate and worship Confucius. After the Ming Dynasty, it was mostly used as a county school, so it is also called the Confucian Temple. The Tongan Confucian Temple is located on the west bank of Dongxi in the old town of Tongan, Xiamen. It was built in the Five Dynasties and was destroyed later. Dacheng Hall was rebuilt in the 32nd year of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty (1767), covering an area of 1,050 square meters, and was rebuilt in 1987. The Tongan Confucian Temple was not only a place to worship Confucius, but also a classroom for the students around. It is now a county museum, which houses the historical relics and cultural relics of the local eunuchs of Tongan since the Western Han Dynasty. On the north side of the Confucian Temple, there are Xingxian Yucai Fang, Panchi, Guanlan Pavilion and a stone sculpture exhibition field. The site displays more than 200 locally collected stone inscriptions, including tombs in the town of Tang Dynasty, stone generals of Song Dynasty, stone horses of Ming Dynasty, and Qing Dynasty Shi Wengzhong and so on.
