The Mt. Niitaka and Ari National Park was established during the Japanese rule, the area includes the current Yushan National Park and Alishan National Scenic Area. In Mt. Niitaka and Ari National Park, Mt. Jade Main Peak was called “Niitaka”(にいたかやま) during the Japanese rule, because it surpassed the Japan’s highest peak Mt. Fuji at that time.
The Japanese colonial government designated the Mt. Niitaka and Ari National Park on December 27, 1937. Today in 85 years, we are holding a meetups to share the beauty of Yushan (Niitaka).
