Unsure what this postcard means

I find the card peaceful and calm, my first thoughts are, the soldier is dead and “crossing the border” calmly, or in his mind he is there, or wants to be. I find this visually really beautiful.

Maybe the artist wants it to be different things for every one.

Thanks for all the interpretations. I was worried they’d get shot while praying.

This was send under a “card you want to get rid of” tag. They were talking about the controversy of it.

I just wanted to see what people thought.

Ah, interesting, I was pretty surprised that someone would send it as an official card but for a tag it’s less surprising.

I mean…you’ve got the soldier juxtaposed with prayer, at a site that has seen a lot of conflict, it’s a pretty complicated image with a lot of subtext that I know I’m not totally getting because I’m not Israeli. Knowing that the soldier is IDF shifts the meaning.
