I saw this news article the other day Why are old post boxes suddenly going missing?.
I didn’t know postboxes could be worth anything, just somewhere to put your post.
Will we end up with with ‘boring’ postboxes to prevent people from stealing them?

I know for lamp boxes, there is a big wedding market for them.
I’ve been to several weddings prior to the Pandemic where their was a decommissioned King George or Queen Elizabeth box painted white or black for you to post your wedding cards.
You just have to look on Ebay and you’ll see them being sold anywhere between £100 & £500.

They’re such an important part of our heritage.
When on my travels, I always stop to take photos of old post boxes (and the photo is even better if I have one or two Postcrossing postcards being posted in the picture). That’s the extent of my collecting - photos of the boxes. But I suppose while there’s a market for them, there will be criminals willing to go out and steal them. Very sad.
