Some of us (e.g. me) have been obsessing about the ins and outs of Postcrossing for literally years

I think maybe when I got more recent cards, like when I got back from travel mode, I wondered why some of those were dated March when cards from February had not come in

But if you were in travel mode you could not receive cards, as you said yourself the travel mode “blocked you” from receiving. So there were no cards sent to you from the portion of Feb that you were in travel mode. Also I can see 2 cards sent in Feb in your list. Also your address is only drawn when you have more sent than received so it is not like you are regularly sent cards, I go entire months without my address being selected because I am not due any cards.

Going into travel mode only makes sense when you want to sent cards from another country or when you are away from home for a longer period of time.

I agree…
Some people seem to like it even when travelling in their same country because the cards they send while on travel mode have the right location on the map and the correct distance, but personally I don’t care about that.
