Kalymnos is the world renowned island of traditional sponge harvesting. Following WW2 this was the only Greek sponge trade business that survived and thrived.
The International Diving Festival convenes here every year. You can make unforgettable excursions in magical worlds like Nera, Telendos, Platy and the nearby island of Pserimos. You can visit the sunken ancient city in the Myrties-Telendos sea channel. In Kalymnos there is also the most beautiful fjord in Greece. The valley of Vathy embroidered with tangerine and orange trees, slopes down to the waiting waters of the Aegean. Inhabitants from the Neolithic period onwards have all left their mark.
