Cute edges on stamps - Gutter Strips

Sometimes they are just too beautiful to waste !
I would use them as decorations if possible.

So I just revived this postcard in the mail today, and I saw that it had two strange blank stamps beside it, do es anyone know what they are used for?

It’s probably just what surrounds the stamp on the sheet it was on.

The Hildegard Wegscheider stamps are sold in minisheets of 10 stamps and what you are asking for are parts of the frame of such a minisheet.

Most French (gummed) stamps have such gutter strips too, below a couple of examples of the ones I like.

P.S. I just sent an official card to a German Postcrosser who studied Egyptology and I gladly used the new French commemorative stamp (+ gutter strips) matching her interest. :grinning:

@aegisW - how big is that stamp? It’s beautiful but also looks (amazingly) large!

Size is about 150*100 mm. @roxsm

wow - basically the size of a postcard!
