[Armenia] 77th anniversary of the Victory

Victory Day in the Republic of Armenia is a special holiday. This is not just a historical date, it is a memory of the heroism and courage of our grandfathers and great-grandfathers, a reminder of the exorbitantly high price that our peoples paid for peace. On this day, we not only mourn for the fallen, but also are proud of those who did not bow their heads to evil and won, not only for themselves, the right to life and dignity.
It is difficult to overestimate the contribution of the citizens of the republic to the cause of the Great Victory. Fighting valiantly against the Fascist invaders, Armenian soldiers participated in all major battles and military operations of the Great Patriotic War. Almost every fifth resident of Armenia has gone to the front. In total, more than 300,000 natives of the Armenian SSR were mobilized into the Soviet army, and another 200,000 ethnic Armenians were drafted to the front from other Soviet republics. More than 100 thousand Armenians were drafted into the armed forces of the countries of the anti-Hitler coalition. Unfortunately, more than 200 thousand Armenians have not returned from the war.
The Armenian people gave five marshals of Victory: Ivan Bagramyan, Ivan Isaakov, Amazasp Babajan, Sergey Khudyakov and Sergey Aganov. More than 60 Armenian generals were in command on all fronts of the war.

More than 66 thousand Armenians were presented with various state awards for their participation in the war. 107 soldiers and officers were awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union. Ivan Baghramyan and Nelson Stepanyan became Heroes twice. 27 Armenians became full holders of the Order of Glory.

It is impossible to ignore the selfless work of those who supplied the front with ammunition and food. Armenian enterprises produced about 300 items of products necessary for the front.

In commemoration of the 77th anniversary of the Victory over Fascism, paying tribute to those who defended their Homeland on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War and those who forged our Victory in the rear I have some special cards and I want to send as much as possible for everyone who want get it!

Hi Alena!
Thank you for your post, I like especially this sentence : “This is not just a historical date, it is […] a reminder of the exorbitantly high price that our peoples paid for peace”.

Let’s not forget that the heroes of WW2 allowed us to live in a pacific world (at least in the western world) for decades.

Yes, it’s so important to remember our history in fighting fascism as it grows again in the world.

We must remember the lives & health sacrificed by soldiers & civilians in fighting this evil.

Thanks for sharing your history with us!
